The Luci Berger Community Dance Center at The School of Arts and Enterprise

We are so very pleased to share that beginning in May we will see the opening of The SAE's newest facility in the Pomona Arts Colony - The Luci Berger Community Dance Center at The School of Arts + Enterprise.  Beginning this summer - The Berger will become another home to SAE DANCE and serve a variety of critical purposes for The SAE's Department of Dance and its ongoing growth. This is a truly memorable moment of expansion for the school and a fitting celebration of the impact and legacy of Lucille H. Berger, our Co-Founder and long running Executive Director, who now continues her work in a key Emeritus role for the school. Luci is an instrumental force in the history of The SAE, and a dancer in her youth - who often speaks to her own personal dance education as a catalyst for her future in arts education.

Most notably, The Berger will be the home for The SAE's 8th Block Dance Education Dual Major which launches in the fall, funded in part by a Specialized Secondary Program Grant from the California Department of Education. This program in its most basic form will teach SAE Dance Majors how to teach dance and then allow local elementary youth to attend free dance classes taught by our students, supervised by our Dance Faculty.  This comprehensive community dance education program has long been a key part of our artistic vision for The SAE and addresses head on the tremendous access and equity issues in youth dance education - We are overjoyed to see it come to life under Ms. Spahr's and Mr. Shield's leadership.

The Luci Berger Community Dance Center at The School of Arts + Enterprise is yet another example of the creativity and power of the arts in making a community better - and The SAE leading the charge in doing the work.

“The School of Arts + Enterprise pushed me to find my passions and push myself to go beyond what I could’ve even imagined.”
